Meet Dr. Vera

Dr Vera Philipsen DPT COMT

Welcome!

I am so glad you are here!

Verified Pelvic Health and Physical Therapy came to life during an extended maternity leave after the birth of my second child.  Between newborn snuggles and chasing after my  two year old, I dreamt of an “in-home” Physical Therapy practice modeled after the nurturing midwifery care I had just received through my own pregnancy and home birth.

Now, several years later, I can confirm home, your most familiar and comfortable space, is in fact where healing occurs best and with the most ease.

I see the practice of Physical Therapy as a balance between science and art.  I value one on one, hands-on individualized care, and a full body approach.  I strive to use my 15 years + of working with human bodies to inform, nurture and encourage my patients.  Together we focus on exploring  your individual movement patterns and function, with a goal of health and wellness through all stages of life.

My greatest desire as a Physical Therapist is to help you learn and  get to know your body so well, that even parts that are different or changed feel like they belong to you again.

My Doctor of Physical Therapy degree is from the University of Maryland School Of Medicine, Baltimore, back in May 2008.  After moving to San Diego, I worked in outpatient orthopedics, focusing my postgraduate education on developing my Manual Therapy skills of the spine and lower extremity, as well as deepening my expertise of complex hand and upper extremity injuries.

In 2012, I completed a 9 month Certification of Manual  Orthopedic Therapy through the The Ola Grimsby Institute and in 2014 met the requirements to become a Certified Hand Therapist. The majority of my Pelvic Health course work has been through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.

In addition to Physical Therapy, I love being  with my family, catching a wave and being at the beach, bouldering at the local climbing gym, playing violin and exploring beautiful San Diego.
